Special to The Pass Post

The Pass Christian School District (PCSD) is celebrating following the release of the Mississippi Department of Education’s accountability grades for the 2023-24 school year.

For the first time since 2013, ALL of the schools in the Pass Christian School District have earned an A-state rating. The PCSD is among the top ten districts in the state of Mississippi, ranking 6th out of 145.

Additionally, once again Pass Christian High School has been recognized as one of the top high schools in the state, earning a rank of 5th out of 232 high schools. The school also scored an all-time high of 855 accountability points.

Joining the A-club this year is Pass Christian Middle School (PCMS). When Mr. Jedadiah Mooney became the principal, he was given the charge to change the academic culture within the school. In concert with teachers and staff and with a focus on relationships, PCMS students were held to clearly-defined high expectations. When asked, Mooney and Pass Christian High School Principal Dr. Beth Bellipanni credited the hard work of the teachers and students for their achievements.

Dr. Carla J. Evers, superintendent of the Pass Christian School District, expressed her pride and gratitude upon hearing the announcement, saying, “The Board and I are extremely proud of the work of our teachers, students and administration. In our district, we believe that Pirates excel when learning is a shared responsibility. Thus, I would also like to thank our staff, parents and community for their unwavering support. Pass Christian is a special place, where the education of our children is a top priority, which is evidenced by our continued improvement and success. Congratulations, Pirate Nation!”

To celebrate this significant achievement, the district will host a district-wide academic pep rally on October 4 for third- through twelfth-grade students. The event will feature a special guest who will help present various awards to honor the hard work and dedication of students and teachers.
