Stanfield receives Excellence in Librarianship Award

Jamie Stanfield, head of the University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Libraries, has been named the 2024 recipient of the University Excellence in Librarianship Award.

Stanfield has been with University Libraries since February of 2018, when she started as a part-time reference librarian. In September of that year, she was hired full-time as the science, nursing and health librarian, and, in December of 2022, she was named the head of the Gulf Coast Library.

Stanfield serves Southern Miss and the librarian profession in numerous capacities, including collaboration with other University departments to provide services to students in new and innovative ways, offering instruction and workshops in the library, and serving on various professional committees.

The University Excellence in Librarianship Award recognizes a faculty member who has significantly contributed in the practice of librarianship through excellent performance that enhances the dissemination of knowledge and through the advancement of learning.
