The Pass Christian Public School District (PCPSD) recently held its first PCPSD Gifted Chess Tournament. Thirty-five participants came from Delisle Elementary School, Pass Christian Elementary School, Pass Christian Middle School and Pass Christian High School. Gifted teacher Sarah Badeaux, Jane Bunn and Paula Lacoste, along with high school Chess Club sponsor Ashley Ladner, partnered with Jeff Bolhuis of the Mississippi Scholastic Chess Association for the event.
Fifth-grade winners included Blake Holman, gold; and Charlie Hurst, James Strawhorn and Gene Wong, tied for silver. Sixth-grade winners were Cael Fryer, gold; Jordan Taylor, silver; and Izzy Milevsky, bronze. Seventh- and eighth-grade winners were Daniel Johnson, gold; Adrian Rodriguez, silver; and Aiden Rice, bronze. High school winners included Kolbie Brassfield, gold; Gabriel Dupree, silver; and Jacoby Johnson, bronze.
