Marlie Rath named BSN Sports Student-Athlete of the Month

The Long Beach School District (LBSD) recently announced Marlie Rath as the recipient of the Bearcat Sports Network (BSN) Sports Student-Athlete of the Month award. LBSD administrators say that Rath, a senior at Long Beach High School (LBHS), has “captured the hearts and admiration of her peers through her exceptional talent and unwavering dedication in both academics and athletics.”

The District continues: “Throughout her academic journey at LBHS, has consistently ranked among the top students in her class, showcasing not only her athletic prowess but also her commitment to academic excellence. Her remarkable achievements extend beyond the volleyball court, where she shines brightly as a senior player and a four-year letter winner.'s stellar leadership qualities and exemplary involvement in various school and community organizations underscore her well-rounded character. As a four-year member of the Student Council, Co-op program, Superintendent's Advisory Council, Mayor's Youth Council, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes, has demonstrated her dedication to serving both her school and local community.”

In addition to her accomplishments in volleyball, Rath has two championship rings from her participation on the girls bowling team, and she also plays soccer and tennis.

Off the field, Rath, the daughter of Brad and Rachel Rath, is a member of the First United Methodist Church.
