Members of the Long Beach Girls 12U All-Stars Softball Recreational Team are no strangers to big crowds, and the August 6 Board of Aldermen’s meeting at City Hall was no exception, when Long Beach Mayor George Bass and City aldermen recognized the girls’ softball team for winning the title of Long Beach Invitational Champions.
The team defended home turf, playing six games in the blistering heat to bring home the gold at the Long Beach Invitational Softball tournament June 21-22, held at the Long Beach girls softball fields on Klondyke Road. More than twenty-nine teams from ten cities participated in the tournament.
Coaches, parents and, of course, team players, were on hand for the presentation. The winners also took the opportunity to show off their championship rings and trophies.
