The Long Beach School District (LBSD) earned the top graduation rate on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Graduation was held on Thursday, May 16, at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. In all, one hundred ninety-seven Long Beach High School seniors earned their high school diplomas for the 2023-24 school year.

The LBSD celebrated the school’s top graduation rate status, as well as the end of the school year, with a district-wide BBQ on Tuesday, May 28. LBSD employees enjoyed a lunch provided by the Long Beach Excellence in Education Foundation and other sponsors.

Riley McDonnell is LBHS’s 2024 valedictorian, and Vicki Tran is LBHS’s salutatorian.

Overall, Mississippi’s graduation rate has increased over the past decade, with 74.5-percent earning high school diplomas in 2014, compared to 88.9-percent for the state’s 2022-23 overall graduation rate.
