Grant to help fund Butterflies in the Pass

Posted

The Friends of the Pass Christian Public Library were recently named the recipients of a $500 Walmart Community Grant, which will provide funding for the annual Butterflies in the Pass Monarch Festival. The educational festival, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored annual by the Friends.

Set for Saturday, October 5, Butterflies in the Pass will be held from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at War Memorial Park and will offer hands-on exhibits for all ages, as well as speakers on topics related to butterflies and pollinators. Grant funds will be used to provide supplies for the festival and honorariums for the speakers.

“The goal of the Butterflies in the Pass Monarch Festival is to educate our community about Monarch butterflies and other pollinators:  their benefits, lifecycles and what we can do to help them thrive,” said Head Librarian Wendy Allard.
