Celtic Concert in the Courtyard planned for April 16

Posted

The 4th Annual Words and Music Community Culture Series, sponsored by the Friends of the Pass Christian Library, will kick off on Sunday, April 16, from 3 until 5 p.m., with a “Celtic Concert in the Courtyard” in the courtyard at the library.

The afternoon concert will feature the Paul Brock Band, billed as “high powered music from Ireland.” The band includes multi-instrumentalist Brenda Dowling; accordion and melodeon Paul Brock; two-time All-Ireland fiddle champion Jake James; and pianist, composer and arranger Denis Carey.

The band, who have appeared with acclaimed Irish band The Chieftains on multiple occasions and performed on the Grand Ole Opry, also collaborated with Grammy-award-winning Country artist Ricky Skaggs on their album Green Grass, Blue Grass, which celebrates the strong connection between traditional Appalachian and Irish music.

The concert is free, and everyone is welcome. Attendees are asked to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets, bug spray, fans, friends and family to the event, whose atmosphere will be casual. The library/City Hall Courtyard is located at 111 Hiern Avenue.
